Dr Jessica Da Gama Duarte
Academic lead Mucosal Immunology Research Group and Central Facility for Genomics, Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics, Griffith University
Dr Jessica Da Gama Duarte received a PhD in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2015, where she developed a novel cancer array. She was recruited by the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, Australia in the Cancer Immunobiology Program. This Institute provides a direct link between research and clinical practice, and access to a suite of patient samples that enable her to investigate the full translational capacity of the array. Her research is focussed on the identification of novel diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive cancer biomarkers, and on understanding the role of B cells, antibodies, and tertiary lymphoid structures in cancers.
